The PLATTERS --- LIVE! A fundraiser for Valley Haven Adult Day Program The new Platters consist of Elmer Armstrong, lead tenor who’s been with the group since 1989 and took over tenor chores when Paul Robi passed away. Elmer hand picked the members of the current Platters, starting with bass singer, Larry Tate. Larry was brought into the group in April of 1991, and possesses one of the smoothest bass voices in the business. Kathy Celsy, alto, the newest member of the group, was a former member of the Chordettes and a recording artist with Motown Records, Lavan Davis, lead tenor, has been with the group since the mid 90’s. Lavan is compared to Tony Williams in addition to other great voices of the 1950’s. He’s also an accomplished gospel singer, having sung with the L.A. Mass Choir. Having sold over 100 million records, Romance is what made the Platters universally appealing in the ‘50s, and still keeps them as popular today. Now you can have a chance to see them here in Lompoc! Come support a great cause.
