Description
The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau invites members and non-members of the community to “Meet the City Manager” with guest speaker city manager Jim Throop, at their monthly luncheon on Thursday, August 16 at 11:30 am at the Hilton Garden Inn located on 1201 North H Street in Lompoc, California.
Although Throop was introduced at a City Council meeting in June, the Chamber’s August luncheon will be a major introduction of the commerce side of the community to the new city manager, who will have a few weeks work in the Lompoc Valley beneath his belt by then.
Jim Throop most recently served as the chief financial officer of the City of Oxnard and was hired as Lompoc City Manager in June of 2018 following a long interview process by the City of Lompoc that had also included a city-wide public survey. A graduate of the University of Southern California and Chapman University, and with over 30 years of experience in finance, he is set to begin his new role in the City of Lompoc on July 30.
“I’m looking forward to serving the wonderful Lompoc community, and putting my experience in finance to work or the city,” Throop said in a statement. “I’m confident that working together with the City Council, city staff and the community, we can help Lompoc shine in the way it deserves to.”
Lunch will be served buffet-style by Valle Eatery in the Hilton Garden Inn, featuring chicken marsala in red wine reduction and mushrooms, mashed potatoes, rice pilaf, market vegetables and garden salad with diner’s choice of assorted freshly baked cookies or peach pie for dessert.
For guests with special dietary needs, please contact the Chamber.
