The Lompoc Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor’s Bureau invites the community to “Reality of the Riverbed”, a luncheon with an informative panel discussion about issues of the homeless living in Lompoc’s riverbed. Speakers on the panel include Lompoc Police Chief Patrick Walsh, Deputy Director of Santa Barbara County Community Services Department Dinah Lockhart, and Director of Programming for Coast Valley Substance Abuse Center, Chuck Madson.
The luncheon will be on Thursday, June 21, 2018, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm, at the Embassy Suites Jalama Room at 1117 North H Street in Lompoc, California 93436. Cost for the luncheon is $25 per person for non-members, and $20 for members. Registration and pre-payment for the luncheon is required by Monday, June 18, 2018.
Join the Chamber and their panel as they provide answers and insights to the challenges facing the riverbed and the rising homeless population making their homes there. Social media and news outlets report often on activity of those who live at the two camps within the riverbed, making citizens call into question the safety and security of their homes and livelihood.
Lompoc wants to know what is being done to solve this issue, and with the panel discussion at the Chamber’s luncheon, direct and factual information will be provided.
